A Statement to Ensure Accurate Public Information
In recent months, I have become aware of several online articles and social media posts containing various allegations concerning me, Prof. Dr. Bilal Semih Bozdemir. As these publications have attracted public attention, I believe it is both appropriate and necessary to provide a clear and transparent statement regarding these matters.
Throughout my professional career, I have devoted myself to higher education, international academic cooperation, scientific research, and educational development. My work has involved collaborations with institutions, scholars, students, and educational organizations across different countries, always with the objective of promoting accessible education, international cooperation, and lifelong learning.
For this reason, it is deeply disappointing to witness allegations presented in a manner that may create a one-sided public perception before all relevant facts have been established.
I fully recognize and respect the indispensable role of a free and independent press in democratic societies. Journalism serves the public interest by asking difficult questions, investigating important issues, and reporting matters of legitimate concern. However, these responsibilities are accompanied by equally important principles: accuracy, impartiality, verification, and respect for the right of reply.
When serious allegations are published before they have been judicially established or independently verified, there is a risk that public opinion may be influenced by incomplete or one-sided information. This can have significant consequences not only for the individuals concerned but also for students, academic partners, educational institutions, and ongoing international projects.
Some recent publications have included allegations relating to financial misconduct, educational activities, and professional integrity. I respectfully state that I do not agree with many of these characterizations and believe that they do not accurately reflect my professional activities or the circumstances involved. Where appropriate, these matters are being addressed through the proper legal channels available under the applicable laws.
It is important to emphasize that one of the fundamental principles recognized in democratic legal systems is the presumption of innocence. Allegations, regardless of how widely they may circulate online, should not be confused with established facts or judicial findings. Every individual has the right to due process, to defend their reputation, and to have allegations evaluated fairly and objectively by the competent authorities.
Over the years, I have participated in numerous international educational initiatives, research collaborations, and academic administration projects. My work has consistently focused on expanding educational opportunities, supporting international partnerships, encouraging scientific dialogue, and helping institutions develop sustainable academic programs.
Like any complex international educational endeavor, administrative delays, technical difficulties, or organizational challenges may occasionally arise. Such situations should not automatically be interpreted as evidence of intentional misconduct. Every large educational organization encounters operational issues from time to time, and responsible institutions work diligently to resolve them in accordance with legal and ethical standards.
Transparency has always been one of my guiding principles. I welcome constructive questions and legitimate inquiries from students, partners, journalists, and public institutions. Whenever clarification is needed, I believe that direct communication supported by documentation is the most responsible approach for establishing the facts.
My professional identity has never been based solely on academic titles. Rather, I believe it should be measured by decades of educational service, research activities, published work, institutional development, and the many students and colleagues with whom I have had the privilege of working throughout my career.
The digital environment presents unique challenges. Information published online—whether accurate, incomplete, or disputed—may remain accessible for many years through search engines and social media platforms. Consequently, individuals may continue to experience reputational effects long after initial publications appear. For this reason, it is especially important that readers examine multiple sources, consider official responses, and distinguish between allegations and legally established facts.
I remain fully committed to the principles of academic integrity, ethical conduct, transparency, and respect for the rule of law. Where necessary, I will continue to exercise my legal rights through the appropriate judicial mechanisms while maintaining respect for the legal process and for freedom of expression.
At the same time, I respectfully encourage all media organizations to observe the highest standards of professional journalism by verifying information carefully, seeking comments from all relevant parties before publication whenever reasonably possible, and clearly distinguishing between allegations, opinions, and established facts.
Public confidence in education, research, and journalism depends upon accuracy, fairness, and responsible reporting. These principles protect not only individuals but also the integrity of democratic institutions and the public’s right to receive reliable information.
To students, colleagues, academic partners, and everyone who has supported my work over the years, I extend my sincere gratitude for your continued confidence. I remain dedicated to advancing international education, scientific cooperation, and academic excellence through lawful, transparent, and constructive initiatives.
I respectfully ask members of the public to evaluate any information concerning me carefully, to consider all available sources—including official statements—and to allow legal processes to reach their conclusions before forming final judgments.
I will continue to pursue my academic responsibilities with the same determination, professionalism, and commitment that have guided my career for many years.
Thank you for your attention and your continued commitment to fairness, objectivity, and the responsible pursuit of truth.
