Article overview
This integrative review examines disagreements between wearable recovery ratings and an athlete's own sense of readiness. It distinguishes bodily state and initial appraisal from later exposure to a score, changed perceptions and subsequent decisions. The discussion evaluates evidence that feedback can influence experience while separating these effects from changes in objective performance. It also explains why validating an individual sensor does not validate a composite readiness score, and proposes ways to study feedback timing and interpretation.
